Colin is watching Gladiator for the millionth time as type this

Yesterday may have included, but was not limited to:

Colin resetting his alarm,
it not going off,
and us getting up at 6:50am.
(not good. bigs bus comes at 7:10)
Rushing.
Forgetting that it was Coley's picture day. Redressing him at 7:09.
Jared going to TLC (teens living for Christ) before school.
(God and doughnuts make Jared happy)
Jack getting up early again. and insisting on having his face painted for "spirit day" at school.
(used acrylic paint...he was super excited.)

after dropping him off at school, emailing colin photos at work.

Email went something like this:
Col: Very Nice!!!! Is his hair in a Beckham tail?
Me: no, i put a black "soccer headband" in his hair while i painted, and he decided to keep it on, so his face didn't get messed up. ;) xxe
Col: Either way he looked cute and Happy! Maybe you have a career in face painting...
Me: yeah maybe..... not.

Cute and happy, that's jack
.................................................................

Also from yesterday.
The happiest thing Nestle makes for me. talking with Gabby. we were cracking me up yesterday. we were FUNny.
after school. friday = video and computer games are a go. the boys love fridays.somehow jack snuck in the back door after school, and quietly crept up on me while I was sitting on the couch looking through the new Boden catalog. Apparently I was pretty engrossed in dog earring all my wishes, because he scared the living crap out of me. I think I jumped a foot. I can't remember the last time I've been so startled. He was pretty proud of himself.

lipstick on my cup. sometimes I like to try and look nice before Col gets home. is that weird? I'm kind of old fashioned...Jack's "green team" bracelet he got at school.
don't ask if it has to do with recycling. I did. and I got the "what in the heck kind of idiot are you" look from my son.
it's actually for staying on "green" all month.
(the schools behavior system, green = good, yellow = not so good, red = watch out they can spank in schools here)pumpkin crisp for dessert.Colin and I finally watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall last night.
good stuff.
the end.

I really do have two other sons and a husband. Colin has been lacking in representation during the week in the life posting, so I made up for that today. lots of Colin in tomorrows post. and even the other two boys.

Happy Saturday.

Lazy Maybes

This will be quick, because I have a headache.
I also just spent $230 on groceries this week.
Perhaps the two are related?!?

10/8 Wednesday:
(everyone is so over the camera...so this is mostly just day-to-day "stuff")

I love this truck.
this big, crappy, old, 200,000 miles on it, paid off, always started, expensive tire needing, ECU pirates, gas guzzling, bright red, truck.
Love. it.
I have no idea why. It defies logic or explanation.
stuff they make.I reheat my coffee a million times a morning. just one more reason i love fall. caramel candles. keeping it real. wednesday - still hadn't purged crap from the coffee table. actually I can tell you it's thursday now, and I'll be throwing a few more magazine on top of there in a minute.
soccer tan line. it's hard to see because it was so bright in the kitchen, but it's there. and it's funny. I love my crockpot. it makes me food while I'm at practices.only 24 photos taken of yesterday, and less today...not good.

Jared texted me from school this morning.
"I forgot my retainer at home just leave it there"
followed by another text.
"Do NOT bring it to school"
which made me laugh because he forgot his lunch yesterday,
I dropped it by the office, and apparently the office called down to the class he was in,
and that teacher said "Jared, your momma brought yer lunch it's in the car."
(office/car, same thing I guess...)
I assume he decided he didn't need his momma bringing him his retainer... poor embarrassed teenager.

I've been thinking a day behind so much on this blog that I actually thought The Office was on tomorrow. I told Gabby it was on tomorrow, which then confused her...
so back to thursday now....

It's really Wednesday, but this is Tuesday, Wednesday will now be Thursday, and Friday....just try and keep up...

so yesterday after tripping over the box sticking out from under my bed for the umpteenth time, I decided to figure out what was inside. a strange conglomeration of art projects from school...scary monsters. I also found a huge pad of arches paper. which is cool because I know jack will be hot to help me use it. and I've had an urge to paint....so win win. I also found a sheet of linoleum in there. a linocut maybe?.... we shall see. can't seem to finish any one project I start lately, so perhaps I shouldn't jump into too many more. anyway, it was a fun blast from the past.

Yesterday in the Life

So,
I said I was going to do Ali's a Week in the Life project,
and so far, so good.
I won't be posting everything everyday....
but blogging makes me a little more accountable...
so I'm going to post some of it.
I'm actually really enjoying the process.
The boys, not so much.
I think they have the camera in their face so much as it is, it doesn't help having it around constantly....
the writing is what I'm really excited about.
I recorded the best stories from the boys yesterday. Some were substantially longer than I anticipated, and my handwriting got progressively worse, but I know I'm going to look back and really really love that I took the time to do this......

Yesterday. Monday 10-6-08:

Monkey scrubber from Gabby.
Handmade dish-cloth from Sarah. (Yes, having a happy sink makes doing the dishes WAY more enjoyable)...

The catalogs and magazines are taking over.... (I'm purging that situation today)boys home. backpacks on hooks.
vitamin water = the boys are completely addicted...the only one that doesn't mind being in front of the camera non-stop...
2 of my favorite stories from yesterday:

Jack "In art we're studying Grant Wood. He's an artist and his most famous painting is American Gothic. We're re-drawing it in a different or funny way. Kind of a different way. I put a mohawk on the farmer and a french mustache. And the farmer wasn't really the farmer, it was Grant Wood's dentist. and there was a lady in the picture, she was Grant Wood's daughter. And I added her a uni-brow. I had to draw the house in the background. And the art teacher told us the painting was called American Gothic because the farm house was an American farm house and the Gothic part came from the window on the very top of the house because it was a Gothic styled window - that was what they called it. That's what we're learning in art class."

Jared "We're learning about plate tectonics, sea floor spreading, and continental drift (in science) and my teacher asked us...well, first he showed a picture of pangaea and then he showed a picture of pangaea spread out into todays continents. And he asked us how do you think it got this way? and people thought completely wrong ideas like earthquakes or giant animals. and then finally I raised my hand (Me- Wait, why didn't you raise your hand first if you knew the answer? Jared -I wanted to hear all the retarded ideas first) -and explained to him in depth everything we were about to learn. Then Mr. Novak said well Jared that's right - that's actually really right, So, do you want to teach the lesson, or do you want to have a study hall during this? and I said I'll just sit in class and see if I missed out on anything."

Weekend News

Jack- "I have a lot to write in my weekend news. We went to a soccer tournament in Russellville. My big, big brother got first place. and my brother got second place."weekend news = monday writing journal at school.
I love that it's his "big big brother", and his "brother".
wrote that quote down in my week-in-the-life notebook....
i've been taking photos today and jotting things down.

drove through Weiner again. and i'm not going to lie. it was just as funny to me the second time.
jared and i made colin stop the car so we could take a photo of the weiner bowling sign.
weiner.
bowling.
made me giggle.
my photo was blurry because i'm lazy. jared sprinted across the field to get all up close and personal with the weiner bowling sign. at one point last night i had to remove one small boy from the car to discuss how the crying and endless whining would be ending immediately,
and an apology would be given promptly to both me, and his daddy....,
or we wouldn't be going any further.

when i noticed this.which made the idea of having to sit on the side of the road for what could have been the rest of the night more enjoyable.

luckily a certain someone pulled themself together, and we got back on the road.

and now i'd like an extra weekend to recover from the weekend. please and thankyou.
