erika stayed up super late last night watching reruns from a certain show that is premiering January 3rd....
erika slept in....
erika didn't answer the phone...
erika listened to the message...
it was from the realtor...
they were going to show the house at 1pm...
erika almost stopped breathing....
erika cleaned...
and cleaned...
and cleaned....
it was a caffeine adrenaline induced cleaning frenzy....
12:30...erika and boys were out the door....
only to return at 4pm...
to a message saying...
"Your 1pm appointment was cancelled"
erika was not happy.

ok, I'll stop w/ the third person..
it's annoying me.
SO, needless to say...I have not had a very good day...
on the bright side...
my house is clean.
really clean.

SO, we found a new house...
we're renting though...

well...because THIS house hasn't sold...

So, we're looking at houses, and Greenville is a college town,
(ECU, no idea) anyway, college town rentals translate to .....
crappy run-down slums....
which with three kids is not exactly what I had in mind.
(I lived in them in college w/ one kiddo.....that was enough :)
So when we found this cUte little brick ranch in an older neighborhood...
within walking distance to what are suppose to be good schools..
we jumped on it.
....
now I have to figure out, without so much hyperventilation,
how to sell my house is 0 minus 30 days.
But,
my new house...
OMG I'm rambling.....

My "new" house is soooooo charming...
with some hardwood floors, and a little sunroom....
and a fenced in yard....
it's substantially smaller, and there is no garage (just a carport)
so I'm not really sure what to do w/ about half of our schtuff.

It's just a completely overwhelming thought right now.
Thankfully I have this sister.....who has a four bedroom house....

Funny stories from last week.
(aka why I win the bad mother of the year award....again)
We are looking at houses....
We get out of the truck to meet the realtor...
My boys are all wearing hoodies and jeans.
Jared's has hockey on it, Coltens is navy blue, and Jack's has baseball on it.
The lady comes over and says "OOOOOOOOOh look, we have miss hockey, miss baseball, and little mister cool."....she then looks back at my oldest, and says "And isn't she pretty."
At this point, I can't make eye contact w/ the realtor because I know I'm going to start laughing uncontrollably.....Do I correct her? nooooo...
Does my husband? noooo...
So, Jared is bright red....
Jack is so use to being called a girl, he just blows it off...although I could tell he was relishing the fact that his brother had been mistaken as well.
We go inside and the first bedroom has this girlie arched window...
the woman turns to Jared, who now I can't look at either because I'm giggling...
and says "I bet I can guess whose room THIS will be" :)
OMGOSH....
When we finally left.....Jared was not only planning a haircut, but listing reasons why we would not be living in that house we'd also not be using that realtor....
I couldn't stop laughing......

Colten fell asleep on the way back to the hotel,
getting out of the truck, he grabbed what he thought was his red coat..
it was actually his dad's swim trunks...
he put his head through the leg opening, and then said....
"Mom, I can't get my coat on...."...
I of course burst out laughing yet again.

There were a few other amusing things but I'll spare you..., it was a fun week.
We swam, and swam, and swam....
Well, I swam some and read magazines by the side of the pool some....
it was nice.
My boys will all be enrolling in swim lessons after we move....
yikes...
can you say doggie paddle....
not good...
hard to believe their mother actually was on swim team, certified as a lifeguard, and scuba dived......perhaps her boys should know an actual stroke?!?! HA!

Christmas was lovely.
The grinch tried to bring the stomach flu Christmas Eve...
but I held tight to the aerosol can of Clorox.....and only Jared succumbed.
Poor guy.
We were all well for the big morning though,
and the boys were spoiled....
Jack did not receive an IPOD, but did get a gameboy DS,
along with his brothers, so that more then made up for it.
He also got a furby which is mildly amusing for all....
Gabby, Mike and Maxwell came for dinger...
DELISH....
brought some fab gifts for all of us...
all in all a very nice day :)

Is it wrong that my husband and I drank and played fisher price ESPN basketball last night?!? HA!!!

I got some very comfy striped jammy pants, and some furry white slippers that look like muppets on my feet that I'm still wearing as I type this at what ....1:30pm....

4. Do you hang mistletoe? No, but i just might.....I like those mistletoe balls...cuuuute.

5. When do you put your decorations up? Right after Thanksgiving.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish? OOOOH, it's all yummy. Scalloped potatoes and carrots, and the mushrooms in cream sauce.....delish.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Um....probably just the anticipation....the butterflies in the tummy, the excitement.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I don't really remember a "moment", probably when one of my parents bought a "santa" gift when I was with them ;)

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? No, Colin and I don't, but my boylies get jammie pants, and a book. This year jammie pants, and a gingerbread house kit ;)

10. What kind of cookies does Santa get set out for him? Sugar cookies (and milk), also we normally leave carrots for the reindeer, however this year mommy choked and there were nooo carrots, Jack wrote a letter for Santa though explaining, it was adorable....don't worry, I'm scrapping it ;)

11. Snow love it or dread it? LOVE it. Wish we'd get some...just don't love driving in it....nope, not at all...

12. Can you ice skate? Heck yeah, I dated a hockey player in high school ;)

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? As a child? or now? My lens for my camera last year was way up there....

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Celebrating Christ's birth, and being surrounded by loved ones.

So, Jack is allergic (or "E-yer-gic" in jackspeak) to almost everything God created.
Ok, that's an overstatement....but he's got some interesting ones...
lettuce for instance...
who knew you could even be allergic to lettuce?
not i....
His main allergens are peanuts, shellfish, and pork.
As far as allergies go I'm lucky because milk and wheat would be much more difficult...
for me anyway.
SO, I realize I've learned a lot about allergies having the jackman....but common sense would dictate that allergies can be life threatening.
This is why we have the epipen....

So this morning...
(yes, that was a lead in for a very exciting "e's bored story"....hold on to your seats)
I'm in the shower...the phone rings...the machine gets it..
I get out....(can't leave the exciting details of the story out)...
and there is a message from one of the moms on my son's soccer team...

"Hi Erika...hey, my mom called me today to tell me this story that was on the news about this sixteen year old girl who had a peanut allergy. Her boyfriend ate a peanut butter sandwich 3 hours earlier, and then kissed her, well, like four hours later she died. I just never realized that food allergies could be that severe, just thought i pass that along....Talk to you later".

Yes, I'm aware of these stories...
Yes, It doesn't actually help the hypochondriac...
Yes, I'm nervous when I'm not with him.
Yes, I'm blessed his teacher HAS a food allergy, and ALWAYS errs on the side of caution when giving Jack food.
Yes, It ticks me off when I'm at a crop and a woman find the need to go on (and on and on and on...) about how UNFAIR it is that some child's mom want to make the room her child's in at school peanut free...how it shouldn't be allowed...how inconvenient it is for HER...
NICE.

I'm actually glad my friend called, I'm glad she's more aware now....
So my public service announcement for the day is be aware, be thoughtful, be educated.
Jack is lucky, so far, (knock on wood)....his allergens have to be ingested,
but some kids react from touching the allergen or breathing them in.
So, if your child has a pb sammy for lunch and then touches the same table a child w/ a peanut allergy touches...even hours later....
they could have a serious, even anaphylaxic reation.
If a child in your kids class HAS a food allergy...
ask if there is a safe treat you can bring in for birthdays, etc.
Jack has yet to be included in a birthday celebration at school.
It's frustrating...
but at least I can try to make people understand, that a little inconvenience on your part,
could be the difference in my child's health...
or anothers.

the bad, happy, funny and mike....

sooo, i not only posted my cj layout on 2peas, BUT i'm updating my blog as well...
big day for e.
now, if my house was clean and dinner was cooking....i'd be set.

the bad- my hubby left this morning at 5am.
he started his new job today and will live in temporary housing until our house sells.
MAJOR bummer.
especially since, being the eternal ray of sunshine optimist i am (NOT)...i think our house will NEVER sell ;)
BUT, it's really not that bad...it was worse when he moved here, and the boys and i were still in iowa....and he couldn't come home on the weekends.
he can come home on the weekends...so it'll be ok.
heck, i live in a military town....i see husbands leave for a year at a time...
(amazing those military families...truly)...
this is a piece of cake in comparison.

the happy- i purchased some lovely flamingo ornaments for my tree this weekend ...
i will post pictures (a la april, erin and kristi) as soon as i get the tree up.

the funny- what's cracked me up ALL day?

my sister emails me.....and on one acc't i'm e, and on another i'm "colin" (which is my hub's name)....so she forgets, and emails the "colin" email, which on that acc't happens to be colin's work email.
now...
colin has left that job.
so, the funny part of this story is that the email she sent colin, which was intended for me...
went to colin's old boss AND the manager that's filling in for him.
for some reason, i found this hysterical.
probably because she signed it w/ tons of x's and o's....
so i can only imagine what the people reading colin's email were thinking.
heehee...

So my dear sweet brother-in-law, gabby's husband, MIKE....teaches Jack something absolutely adorable this weekend. (Insert my kids saying "and that would be sarcasm" here.)

I just had a moving company here giving an estimate on the move and I'm showing her all the schtuff we've accumulated and I realize how much I could get rid of if I could just decide about having another baby....
Babies have a lot of things for being so teeny....
Swings, carseats, saucers, highchairs, toys, cribs......holy cow.
Anyway......I think maybe I'm done, and then I see this baby face...and I know I'm not.
hmm.....I love babies.
Maybe that should be a prerequisite for my new neighbor...
"must have baby".
Maybe that would end the baby lust....
because really....
It's much easier now....with the boys older, potty trained...and somewhat manageable ;) sigh......

My weekend in review.....

See the well deserved medals to the right....
My son played a tournament this weekend, and walked away w/ 2nd place...pretty cool, huh?
The boys worked so hard....and the excitement was contagious.
I am sooo proud of that kid.
He's going to be such an amazing man....
He's such a cool kid...
Really.
Oh, and one of those medals is mine actually.
From the coach I feel never quite understands what I do for him as manager...well, he told the organization that he wanted a medal for me too.....ahhh-hhh...such a sweet gesture. ;)
Of course Jared was thrilled "Now you can SCRAP one mom!"...heehee....yep.....now I can.

My picnic basket has cooties,
which is a problem for a basket that is really designed to hold FOOD....
Yep....I bought it from a friend who is getting rid of her longaberger basket collection. (Sidenote. She would be one that "collects" the baskets, and has them all over her home...I have 4, well, 7 if you count the boys Easter baskets, but I wasn't)
OK, so I have been drooling over Gabby's picnic basket for 2 years now....so when I was offered one that is pristine for 1/2 price....I said heck yeah......my friend then had to go and get the flu.....like the flu flu...the coughing sniffling chills sick for weeks flu......but lucky me....she managed to bring the basket to me at preschool....cooties and all.....so now, the irrational hypochondriac (aka me) has the basket sitting on top of the frig....it's met the lysol....it's pretty....but I'm convinced it's going to somehow...give me the flu.....so it's just going to sit ....for a long, long time... no one can tell me otherwise.....

Froggy came to visit this weekend, Jack showed him a good time. Froggy is the preschool mascot....a stuffed red frog.
It was our weekend w/ Froggy, you keep a journal, and then Jack gets to share it w/ the class. Well, you realize this meant I "had" to scrap the visit...of course ;) The best part was that Jack did a number of drawings documenting the visit. The one I found most amusing was titled "Jack and Froggy go Swimming at the Hotel Pool" ...umm, we didn't go to a hotel, and in fact, we didn't go swimming. Funny funny kid that one.

Gabby came to visit Friday, and enabler that I am, I "helped" her spend a buttload on FABULOUS turkey day decor....
Ooo-la-la.....target has the best crap, really....I do love it so.
SO, my sister is going to be VERY martha this thanksgiving....I can't wait.
She got turkey goodies....I got a vacuum.....lame lame lame.
unfortunately for my coolness level....the vac was exciting for me....THAT is sad, very very sad.

Final note...if anyone knows something that might get RED gatorade out of the WHITE jersey (shown in the top photo).....help a sista out...ok? It's now a pink jersey....and w/ another tourney this weekend....this is BAD...very very BAD. And the laundry fairy is at a loss.

Nothing else tooo exciting to report from the weekend.
Pretty much just soccer and beautifying the house for the move....

SOOO....I'm moving....I guess that's sort of big blog-worthy news.
This will be the reason for any unexplained longer then normal absences from the bloggage. We're staying in North Cack....this makes my sister and Jenny Rosser happy.
Which is really all that matters, right??? heehee...
We're moving to the coast, which makes me a little happy I think.
At least now I can actually (maybe) really have a "beachy cottage" that's not just in my head ;) ....nice thought anyway. I worry though because everyone here just says "OHHH, well, it's beautiful there....it's just very...umm....rural." Which can mean small town charming rural, or hellishly small and backwards rural... Praying for the charm....ohh yes, I am.
Trying to get my house ready to put on the market, which would explain why two things happened yesterday......
First happened while taking jack to school. Jared decided to "warm" up his english muffin....in the micro....for 2 minutes....on a tupperware mickey mouse plate.....came home to a house filled w/ toxic fumes....thanks j, that's going to be a real selling point. (At least he didn't burn the house completely down though, which is good.) He's now banned from all electrical appliances while I'm gone.
Second thing that happened......thank you karma......is that jack while running away from his attacking brothers, "forgot" to set down the red marker....and tripped....and now there is a LOVELY red line on my carpet....yet another fantabulous selling point.
AHHH YEAH.....

Nooo more moving talk though, cuz it makes me nervous.....
FUN news....
I am now sporting a VERY fabulous pink scarf....made by my only real ville-ian friend Jenny.
It's gorgeous...and has much flair, so I may wear my side ponytail w/ this one baby.

Oh, I'm also losing my mind....which is, I guess, important news as well......
completely forgot today was pajama day at preschool...jack shows up fully clothed, do-rag and all, and his entire class, teachers included...were all in jammies. Of course, jack being jack...looked at them all like they'd lost their freaking minds....which made me giggle. I also brought vegetables for the food drive and it's tuna week.....soooo, hopefully my memory improves, or it could be a most interesting move.

Ok, my final note is that my friend HELENA has been lurking...and is now actually leaving comments, which makes me the HAPPIEST!!!!!

Gabby and I worked on a kickbutt fun project this weekend....had a blast....and I think regained some mojo...

My Husband is Amazing....and Drawings that make you go HUH?...

SO, my husband took the day off of work to spend it at the pumpkin patch w/ Jack.
He did this so I could still school the big guys this morning...and because there is this annoying "no sibling rule" for field trips...
He is awesome. Such a good daddy, such a good husband. I'm the luckiest.

Funny Jackism for you all,
he looked at me yesterday in his field trip anticipatory excitement, and said....
"You know, you can come. You can just bring the kids".
Yep. My four year old said "you can just bring the KIDS" about his older brothers.
heehee....still makes me laugh.

On to four year old art.....
First off...my boys art, it's my favorite.
Kids still have that ability to just create for the sake of creating....they don't worry....
they just (simply stated) MAKE ART.
That said.
I know some of you aren't parents yet.
I know some of you will be soon...
so some words of advice.
When your four year old tells you it's a picture of you, dont' ask why it looks as though there is fire coming out of your butt.
Just let him tell you you're on the beach w/ fire, 2 scorpions, and an octopus.
DONT ASK WHY.

Don't ask, when he asks you in a very cute voice if his drawing looks like an "OWEO"....what tv show he's talking about.
Just smile and say yes.
What he's really saying is WARRIOR, and it will piss him right off if you think he's talking about cookies. (although that said, his drawing looks much more like a warrior then an oreo)

Smile and tell him it's WONDERFUL...that's all.
And folks, yes, apparently my son does think I have fire coming out of my butt....because, well, it's fire...and if you'll notice where it's coming from....

I know, we're bad! HA! In our defense, the LSS there was having a 25% off everything sale, soooo I felt it necessary to spend some birthday money the MIL sent. (and we may have stopped at yet one more scrappy store, and perhaps...maybe.....the SuperTarget too....WHOOPSIE!) BUT now hopefully the mojo will return, and I'll get to use all my happy stuff! YAY!!! In the meantime Scrapfest has been moved to NEXT weekend....... if any of you would like to join us ;)

We did manage to watch some soccer. My oldest plays on a (traveling) club team.
They won or tied every game until this weekend. This weekend they were a little "off"...this happens, they are 10 and 11. The parents however....WOW.....let's just say I was embarrassed to be on the same team w/ them. CRrrAZY. Yelling.....making the boys nervous....it was ridiculous. My sister did manage to crack me up though. One of the moms was complaining about her son being pushed. (Her son is notorious for pushing, tripping and generally not being the "nicest" player)....anyway, my sister announces LOUDLY..."i was watching Carson Daly last night and he was talking about KARMA" OH CRAP....almost died.....heehee...

Amidst the insanity that is youth sports today.... my sister managed to get some amazing photos of my littles. The one of the jack cracks me up.....goofy, sweaty kid.

I got my film back! YAY! I'm not digital yet...so I have to be patient, which is soooo not me, and wait to see my photos...HATE THAT.
Anyway...the dice are from the trip Gab and I took home.

Thinking of -> April... hoping she's feeling better, poor girl, a scrapping injury, a cold, some hungry (and tiny bit stinky) dogs and a lunch thief in the same week!

Wishing -> that tomorrow morning I was meeting Ash to watch Jude, Jack and Colten play soccer and then we were getting lunch....(wouldn't that be lovely?!!?)
Happy for -> Amber that her lovey is HOME, and Kristi...she is in CK!!! YAY! How cool is THAT? ...
Hoping -> Missy will email me and explain WW...(pretty please?!?)..I sooo need to do that...SOOOOO need to...

I'm done w/ school,
I'm procrastinating the cleaning that needs to be done....

This sign in particular makes Colin crazy. Every time we drive by it....
"KNIFES...should we stop to get some KNIFES"...heehee....always makes me laugh that it bothers him SO much. (esp. since he's married to me...lord knows I'm a little short bus most days)

Bath scrub. Per Gabby's request.
I got some bath scrub called "need a margarita"...(and that week, just recently, I in fact needed 20 of them...so I got the scrub)...it smells yum delish, and it actually does smell like a margarita. ..If you have an opinion on using other peoples bath products....sort of expensive bath product at that...let me know....please.
Ok, another request from my vast fan club....ur, yeah right...would be, any ideas for art projects for the boylies for homeschool funness?!?!? (Jenny Rosser how about that goop recipe, eh?) I'm running out of fabulous ideas.
Also, lastly a shout out to Jenny Rosser, who needs to save me a spot at soccer...or not give me dirty looks for not getting a chance to talk at her....ah-yah, you know I'm right... ;)

My Wild Weekend.....

heeeheee...
ok, nothing wild about my weekend.
I had a VERY tame weekend.
My sister-in-law and boyfriend-in-law flew in from Philly...
we just hung out, watched some SOCCER, went to WalMart which is always an event in the "ville", and otherwise did absolutely NOTHING.
NOTHING...and nothing....not even cheeseburgers....
(wise words from my Colten...what does it mean? I haven't a clue)
My husband did wear his walrus shirt...which is blogworthy.....gabby was kind enough to purchase that gem for him...heehee...makes me giggle lots...
COO-COO-CA-CHOO he is the walrus....

Stopped in to see the old girl briefly on sunday...gab would be the "old girl"....
she seems to be recovering from her crud...yay gab! And her flowers are LOVELY....
When are you coming to plant MINE? HMMM?
The boyz got in a few moments of double dare...if only their parents were cool enough to have as many flipping channels as their aunt and uncle have....
sigh...losers we are.

On the scrapping front.

although, I have high hopes for the rest of the week....
Must get a CD cover done for a certain favorite pea of mine ;)
My two oldest are LOVING the CD I made Missy....Jack however said, and I quote,
"That music made my tummy HURT...Sometimes your music makes my head hurt...but that just made my tummy hurt."
YEP...I'm fairly certain my CD will be a huge hit...

Lunch yesterday.
Jack gains control of the coveted tv remote...
he turns to ESPN2...
billiards is on...
my son keeps it there...
and at one point says...
"LOOK MOM...did you see that?! She almost scratched!"

Funny things about what i just wrote.....my four year old understands what "scratched" means....and I just called pool "billiards"...

Alrighty....so my sister in law is coming...and my house has yet to be cleaned.... not good. The boys and I are taking the day off of school to do just that....shhh-hhhh.....(they're learning to be good husbands..that's all! HA!)
